Robbers on the Porch

Gospel For Asia (GFA) is a Gospel ministry that ministers a lot in India. Most missionaries there are native, people who were unbelievers once, and now swim against the current for the Lord. I periodically receive their SEND! magazine, and I read this heart-touching report:

West Bengal

Three teenagers worked silently on the dark porch of a house right next to a GFA Bible college. As some of the Bible college students watched, they realized the three teenagers were trying to break into the neighboring house.

Quickly, several students surrounded the house and caught the three boys. Only about 15 years old, they admitted they were trying to rob the house.

Instead of reacting the way the boys expected, the students and Bible college staff politely talked with the boys and counseled them, then invited them to come anytime to the Bible college and visit. The three boys left in tears, overcome by the love shown to them. The students didn’t think they would see the boys again.

The next evening, however, the boys showed up to join the students for their evening prayer meeting. As they heard the Gospel more clearly, they gave their lives to the Lord in sincere repentance.

  1. Maybe it's a coincidence, but it is strange to note how often this kind of things happen in countries like India, places of South America, Southern Asia… I think the "modern, advanced and almost perfect" world that we live in is missing out on many important values and such –which can still be seen in places regarded as poor!

  2. Not exactly a coincidence, that's true. In the occidental society there is abundance of everything, and this abundance hides the hunger of the Lord. The Lord said it's easier that a camel go through the hole of a needle than a rich man be saved. That reminds me of today's society. Then we may ask like the disciple what hope there is. And His answer is, "there is nothing impossible for God". Let us then rely on Him to the the working inside man's soul, which we cannot do. We only are bearers of His good news.
